And the egg hunt. Oh yes, the egg hunt… I still bother Dutchie and all my friends every year, begging for it like a 5 years old. Soon, it will be Petit Tom 😉

Greek Braised Octopus with Short Pasta

Last weekend, I had my first Balkan food experience in the kitchen… Together with five other talented homecooks, we prepared a meal for 30 hungry expats and friends from the Legal Aliens. We pulled out a gargantuan menu that left no one hungry for at least the next week. Great food and great fun!

I must say, that until last week, my experience with Balkan food resumed to close to nothing [a trip to Greece some years ago and my weekly drool Marta’s blog]. So many countries involved, so many traditions and tastes. It was quite a challenge! My kind of challenge.

One more month to go before spring… I don’t know about you, but with all the love I’ve got for forgotten veggies and old roots, I’ve had my share for this winter. I am so craving for spring and all it’s green goodies.

Thank god for the tropical and other citrus fruit:

They are the suns of my winter!
Not exactly local I know, but relatively environmental friendly when shipped by boat or truck (energy category B in NL).

Chicken Teriyaki with love

At home, I am the sweet tooth. Dutchie’s sweet spot is meat, and above all: chicken. I know I just can have him melt for a bucket of fried chicken or a good chicken Teriyaki.

Fried chicken ain’t nothing for me and it might take some more years before I get to fry chicken.

Teriyaki is another story. It’s the Tarte Tatin to our chicken… Something between me and him.
